Nordbygg 2024 has been nominated for the prestigious ‘Event of the Year’ award, in recognition of the trade fair’s outstanding efforts to drive innovation and sustainability within the construction and property sector.
Nordbygg 2024 has not only provided a world-class venue but has also established itself as a pioneer in innovation, sustainability and gender equality within the construction and property sector. With thousands of visitors, an international reach and a range of new initiatives, it is easy to see why the trade fair is one of the nominees for Event of the Year 2024.
The nomination: A confirmation of Nordbygg’s importance
Lina Hann, Event Manager for Nordbygg, expressed great delight at the nomination and emphasised that the trade fair’s success is based on a combination of strong industry ties, international reach and a well-developed network. “Despite economic challenges such as interest rates, the construction crisis and the economic downturn, we have managed to remain relevant and a priority within the industry. This is recognition of the industry’s commitment and our ability to provide a strategic meeting place,” says Lina.
One of the new features at Nordbygg 2024 was the launch of Nordbygg by Night, a new concept and meeting place that took networking beyond the exhibition halls. An evening where exhibitors and visitors were invited to awards ceremonies and informal chats – giving participants the opportunity to continue forging valuable contacts and discussing matters further in a relaxed setting. Lina described the concept as “very, very successful, with great feedback”, feedback they hope to build on. Another new development was the launch of a networking app, which was used extensively by around 5,000 people every day. By adding the entry ticket to the app, a high level of usage was achieved right from the start. The app also enabled users to book meetings and enhanced networking, which Lina believes is an important step in developing the venue’s value in the long term.
Innovation and sustainability were recurring themes at this year’s trade fair. Sustainability initiatives included, for example, themed stages on solar energy and energy efficiency, which helped to highlight innovative solutions to the climate challenges facing the construction sector. Gender equality was also a priority area, with initiatives such as Nordbygg’s women’s networking events and positive industry collaborations, such as the presentation of the Construction Companies’ ‘Woman of the Year in Construction’ honorary award at Nordbygg by Night.
The future of Nordbygg: Drawing on the lessons learnt in 2024, Nordbygg aims to continue to develop and adapt to a changing market. Lina emphasised the importance of being bold and trying out new initiatives to ensure the trade fair remains relevant and inspiring. “We see Nordbygg as an umbrella for various initiatives and side events throughout the year, and we are proud of what we have achieved so far. This nomination motivates us to continue creating a meeting place that brings real benefits to the industry’s ongoing development,” concludes Lina. The ‘Event of the Year’ award will be presented at the Möten och Event conference later this year. Whatever the outcome, it is clear that Nordbygg continues to be a key and pioneering player in the construction and property sector.
