Even as the tournament grows, we remain true to our core values and our roots as a tournament organised by and for young people. A large part of the \u2018spirit\u2019 also lies in the people \u2013 officials, leaders and volunteers who, year after year, carry on the culture and commitment. Growth has never been a goal in itself, but rather a result of us doing something that is perceived as genuine, meaningful and relevant.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>How do you work strategically to ensure you remain the world\u2019s largest youth tournament \u2013 not just in terms of size, but in terms of significance?<\/strong><br\/>For us, significance is about more than just the number of participating teams. We take a long-term approach to sustainability, inclusion and social engagement, with football serving as a tool for development and understanding. Through initiatives such as the Gothia Cup Foundation and partnerships with organisations around the world, we give the tournament a broader context. Strategically, we also focus on quality in every aspect of the experience \u2013 from match play and logistics to safety, hospitality and the overall impression.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>How have you developed your concept over time to cater for new generations of players and coaches?<\/strong><br\/>We are constantly developing the tournament by listening to the participants and keeping pace with changes in both football and society. Digitalisation, new competition formats, an increased focus on safety and equality, and clearer support for coaches are examples of areas where we have adapted. At the same time, it is important not to change for the sake of change, but to ensure that every step forward enhances the experience and is in line with our values.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>What values are central to your decision-making regarding the tournament\u2019s development?<\/strong><br\/>Joy, community, respect and inclusion are fundamental to us. We often ask ourselves: does this decision contribute to a better experience for children and young people? Does it feel right from a human, social and long-term perspective? These values serve as our compass \u2013 whether we\u2019re making major strategic decisions or dealing with the details of our day-to-day work.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Why do you think you\u2019ve been nominated for Event of the Year 2025?<\/strong><br\/>We see the nomination as recognition of the whole picture \u2013 an event that combines a large scale with strong values and a clear purpose. The Gothia Cup is more than just a tournament; it is a meeting place where young people from all over the world can experience a sense of community, dreams and hope for the future.
