That passion has permeated every aspect of the festival, from artist bookings to sustainability initiatives and partnerships. <\/p>\n\n
A philosophy that builds success<\/strong><\/p>\n\n Since its inception, Way Out West has remained true to its core philosophy: to create the festival they themselves would like to attend. In an industry where trends and pressures are constantly changing, the organisers have chosen to look inwards. \u201cWhen we\u2019re sure of what we\u2019re doing and what we stand for, it becomes easier to make the right decisions that stand the test of time,\u201d says the team behind the event. This philosophy has not only made Way Out West a success but also a role model within the industry. <\/p>\n\n Focus on sustainability \u2013 both vision and action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n Way Out West has long been a leader in sustainability, and the festival\u2019s work has been praised by both the industry and visitors. In 2024, it achieved several major sustainability targets. After three years of work, the staff\u2019s workwear became fully circular, and the festival\u2019s merchandise for the public also became circular in collaboration with G\u00f6teborgs Stadsmission. <\/p>\n\n The highlight, however, was the Greentopia climate festival, where international experts such as Johan Rockstr\u00f6m, Bea Szenfeld and John E. Fernandez took to the stage together to discuss climate challenges and sustainable solutions. The festival demonstrated that Way Out West not only champions sustainability issues \u2013 it also inspires others to do the same. <\/p>\n\n \u201cWe\u2019re not trying to be perfect,\u201d say the organisers. \u201cBut we want to give our visitors the chance to make better choices during the festival and perhaps take some new ideas home with them.\u201d With nudging experiments by Beteendelabbet and vegetarian options, the festival has continued to show that small changes can make a big difference. <\/p>\n\n World-class music<\/strong><\/p>\n\n Way Out West is also known for its incredible line-up, where the music is always the main focus. \u201cOur bookers have always booked the acts they themselves want to see. It\u2019s not just about the name looking good on the poster \u2013 it has to be fantastic live too,\u201d say the organisers. At the same time, the programme is carefully planned to be both diverse and inclusive, which means certain compromises have to be made to maintain quality. <\/p>\n\n The Festival of the Future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n When Kimmie Winroth, Project Manager, looks to the future, she envisages a festival that continues to challenge and explore. \u201cWe will continue to experiment with what a festival can be,\u201d says Kimmie. At the same time, the focus is on strengthening the festival\u2019s core values: sustainability, creativity and world-class music. <\/p>\n\n Way Out West is more than just a festival \u2013 it is a shining example of how passion and values can create an unforgettable experience.
